    Windows Search not finding some files unless they've been opened recently


    Hello,My Windows Search has become very hit-or-miss lately. In general, I think it finds most files from 2020 and previous and it doesn't seem to have issues with files in my Downloads folder. But when it comes to My Documents which I renamed due to a corporate policy issue - maybe relevant?, it is sometimes unable to find them. The most interesting test result that I found was that SOMETIMES if I open the file, then the search can now magically see it - which seems to rule out a lot of the permissions or search parameter type issues.Example:Open my Windows Explorer to:C:\Users\myname\[folde

    you get the idea. ( too lazy to put it in a for loop and test it.

    or just open regedit and remove all the fileX from that key.

    Windows 10 Office 365 cannot open files from: recent file list

    Thanks for the tip! I followed all above steps.

    So far I can open files from the Recent files list when I enter Word itself, however I still am unable to open any documents using the Word icon pinned to the taskbar:
