Windows 10: Windows Search not working despite files being indexed

Nothing on my computer is showing up on Windows Search even though Windows says I have 399,778 files indexed. Classic search is checked. The drive these files are on has permission to be indexed. This is not a big issue for me thanks to Power Toys, which does a superb job of searching. So, if Power Toys is the solution to this, then why do I care? Because Windows Search on Windows should work. it's that simple.

Indexing is not working

This issue may occur due to corrupt Windows search files or settings. I suggest you to follow the below method and check if it helps.

Method 1: I would suggest you to run search and indexing troubleshooter
and check. Please follow these steps:

• 
  Type troubleshooting in the search box on taskbar.
  
• 
  Click troubleshooting in the search results.
  
• 
  Click "View all" and then click "Search and Indexing".
  
• 
  Click "Next" and follow on-screen instructions.
  

Method 2: Check if Indexing and Windows Search services are enabled. If not, enable them, if they are already enabled, then disable Windows Search Service and then enable again and restart.

  Press Windows key + R.
  
• 
  Type services in the run box, go to the Windows search services and restart them.

Cortana search not work / Windows search not work / Not indexing

Hi, I suggest you
a. wait for indexing to be complete
b. open file explorer at a point in the file hierarchy above a folder you wish to search which has been indexed
c. type the file name in file explorer's search field
d. post
i. Indexing options showing the folder is specified to be indexed
ii file explorer showing the search text and result
