Windows 10: Windows Search Opens Results Page Instead of Links

When using the taskbar search in Windows, if I click on a web link to open it in edge, it opens the search results page instead of opening the site directly. How do I change this?I tried searching Bing and MS Answers but only found results for Edge opening links in new tabs or the taskbar search not displaying web results.

When searching in Edge's address bar the results page is not in the history back stack

I have an annoying behavior with my Microsoft Edge browser version 41.16299.

1. I open a new tab
   
2. I enter a search term in the address bar and get redirected to the Google result page with the listed results
   
3. I click on a link to a result and get redirected
   
4. I use the browser's back functionality I end up on the blank page instead of the Google page.
   

Then there is another scenario

1. I open a new tab
   
2. I navigate to "google.com"
   
3. I enter a search term in the search field and get redirected to the Google result page with the listed results
   
4. I click on a link to a result and get redirected
   
5. I use the browser's back functionality I end up on the Google start page instead of the page with the results.
   

I tried it also with the Bing search, it works normally. Does anyone know anything about this issue?

 

Issue with Fonts in search results and home page

I would suggest you to search for Font settings using Search and then click on “Change Font settings”. Click on
Restore default font settings and check if it helps.



If the issue is not resolved, I would suggest you to perform System File Checker (SFC) scan. System File Checker is a utility in Microsoft Windows that allows users to scan for and restore corruptions in Windows system files. Follow these steps to
run the command and check if it helps.

• Press Windows key + X on the keyboard.
• Click on Command prompt (Admin).
• Type ‘sfc /scannow’ without quotes and press Enter.

Can't open search results in new window

When using windows search, there is no way to open a result in a new window.

Clicking "open file location" goes to the folder of the selection IN THE SEARCH WINDOW, LEAVING THE SEARCH RESULTS PAGE

This loses my search that can take hours, this makes search absolutely useless to me.

Others have suggested online that you could hold shift while clicking "open file location"

This doesnt work, it just does the same thing, the search result page is lost

There is no button to copy the path of a search result, so there really is no way to open a search result folder without losing your search

this makes search useless
