  1. Windows search returns only results from old E drive instead of main C drive

Just swapped my ssd for an nvme. I cloned the entire contents of the ssd to the nvme, so everything ran exactly the same as it had previously on first start up.

The only difference is that now, when I hit windows key and search for a file, all the right results come up, BUT they're the versions that are stored on my old drive.

For a few days I was questioning my sanity, because I'd modify files then pull them up via search bar later, and it was as though I hadn't changed anything.

I tried messing around with the indexing options, turned off indexing for E drive, made sure indexing was on for C, turned C off then rebuilt the index.

    What can I do here?

  2. WIN10 search not returning results from indexed drive

    Greetings

Windows 10 taskbar (Cortana) search is not returning results from an indexed drive. Both the C and D drives are indexed (specific Locations) and task bar search returns results from everywhere but the D drive. However, if I search via file manager search
    returns all the results.

    I have tried

    • rebuilding the index
    • stating and stopping the service
    • running the troubleshooter (find a permissions problem)
The machine is fully patched with the latest release.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

  3. Windows 10 - Start Search only returns results from C: drive

When searching from the start menu only files from the C: drive are returned.

I have 2 hard drives, C: (SSD) and D: (HDD) and folders on both drives are included in the search index.

Adding additional folders on the D: drive increases the number of indexed files.

I have attempted to rebuild the index multiple times but this has not solved the issue.

I have also performed "src /scannow" with no errors.

If I search for a file I know exists in an indexed folder in the D: drive no results are returned.

If I move that file to the C: drive then it will be found.

Is this expected behavior or are there any steps that can be taken to make search include results from all drives?

This is on a fresh windows 10 install.

  4. Windows search returns only results from old E drive instead of main C drive

Windows Search Broken on one drive.

Identifying the issue might have started after I cloned my hard drive to a bigger SSD, I have had a search issue which only persists on my OS (C) drive. I can see results from a certain date backwards, but any new files are not shown in search it only returns old results as well as it returns results from the wrong drive (F drive instead of C drive while searching on C drive). Any idea of how to fix the problem?

I've tried the search troubleshooter, adding system permissions, and other things I saw online.
