Windows 10: Windows Search - set default to details

We have a customer who wants their Windows Search results set to details by default.

Outlook 365

The default is content for search results and the customer has to reset each time to Details.

This can be managed by changing the registry but then is reset after Windows updates has been run.

this can also be managed on each folder but again is reset on Outlook restart

We are running Windows 10, 1903, with Office 365 installed.

They also have around 100 sub folders within Outlook and the customer is not keen on changing for each folder within Outlook

Does anyone know how to set the default search results to details without changing the registry and stopping it resetting back to Content on each Outlook restart

Thank you for the detailed response. To change the search result's view from content to list, we suggest following the steps below:

• Open the File Explorer and try to search for files.
• In the toolbar, open the View tab and click List
  to change the view.
• Once changed, close the File Explorer.
• Open the File Explorer again and try to search to see if the setting has been retained.

Lost default photo viewer after profile rebuild


Thanks Brink. I've tried those steps before i started searching Google. After the profile rebuild i don't have the Photo app listed to choose to make it default in either the system settings for default apps or the Open With option.

I can't even find it doing a search. Seems to have been removed somehow with the profile rebuild, which doesn't make sense.

Might be helpful to list what i've done I've done the open with check, the choose default program in the system menu, tried that in device manager default programs also. I've checked the programs and features Turn windows features on/off and it's not listed there (never thought it was but that was a suggestion), searched the MS Store, it's not listed there either.

I don't like playing in the registry unless i have defined steps and haven't found anything for this yet, just the Win7 version like in my OP.

 

Unable to set up Google as default search engine in Windows Edge

As per the issue description you are unable to set Google as default search engine. Here are the steps which might help you to set it as default search engine or home page.

• Open Windows edge.
• Click on More actions (Three dots ...)
• Click on settings.
• Click on view advanced settings.
• Turn on "Show the home button"
• Enter the URL of the website which you want to set as your home page.
• Close the Windows edge and open it again you will be able to get you desired webpage as your home page.
