Windows 10: Windows Security Blank / Windows Defender Antivirus Not Found / Real-Time Protection Missing

Can anyone help me restore this? I previously installed Avast AV during a malware attack and somehow got rid of it eventually. So once my premium trial expired, I uninstalled it hoping to revert back to Windows Security. Now the default Windows 10 security features won't re-enable.


Is this a default behavior of all Windows 10 devices? - That when a user uses a third party AV, there's absolutely no way to revert back? I did save a system restore before the whole incident, but that is gone. Windows did not inform me that my system was unprotected all these while. Shouldn't it?


I am the pc owner but it says "setting managed by administrator"?








A few things:


1. Yes, I've ran the proper uninstall tool from Avast. This did not turn the default Windows Security back on.


2. I can't start Windows Defender security because the service is NOT there. Only Firewall service is running





3. WinDefend is missing from regedit HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services





4. Microsoft Defender Antivirus AND Windows Security are both missing from GPEDIT Administrative Templates > Windows Components See Screenshot. I'm using Windows 10 Home, but I had to manually install LGPE just so I could troubleshoot with the list of common workarounds that have been given. I can't imagine all the Win10 Home users out there who is unable to have access to this.








5. I have run sfc /scannow and returned with no issues flagged.


6. I suspect I may have corrupt registry entries. If so, can anyone guide me exactly what to look for?

Can't Activate Windows Defender Real-time Protection On Windows 10

This issue may happen if other security software, such as antivirus, anti-spyware, or anti-malware programs, are fully or partially installed on the computer. Windows Defender automatically turns off if you install another antivirus app.

Let us uncheck security messages for Virus Protection and Spyware, kindly follow the steps below:

• Press the Windows key + X, then select Control Panel.
• Click on Security and Maintenance.
• Click the Change Security and Maintenance Settings.
• Uncheck Spyware and unwanted software protection and Virus Protection.
• Click OK.
• Restart the device for the changes to take effect.

After the device restarted, make a full system scan using Windows defender.

To turn on real-time protection, do the steps below:

• Select the Start button, then select Settings.
• Click on Update & Security > Windows Defender.
• Turn on Real-time protection.
