Windows 10: Windows security/defender won't open or show up in "installed apps" but shows up in search...

Windows defender wasn't opening when I clicked the tray icon, so I went to installed apps and clicked reset, but then it just disappeared from the installed apps list, and when I tried to open it from the settings it says, "Get an app to open this 'windowsdefender' link"

Windows Defender sends enhanced notification to ensure that you are informed about your PC's health. If you wish to disable the notifications, kindly follow the steps listed below:

• In the Search box, type Settings.
• From the search results, Click on Settings to open the app.
• Tap the Update & security icon.
• On the left pane, select Windows Defender and turn off Enhanced notifications on the right side.
• Close the Settings app.

Installing Apps on Windows 10 Has Windows Defender Finding Malware

I would suggest you to open Windows defender and add exclusions and check if it helps. Follow the steps to add exclusions in windows Defender.

• 
  Type Windows defender settings in the search bar and press enter
  
• 
  Under Exclusions click on Add Exclusion

Search showing old, deleted apps and not showing newly installed apps

Check the relevant folder is selected to be indexed.
You will need to enable hidden folders to be shown.

Path is
C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs




Example: note Network Activity Indicator on the right.



(I chose to search for Activity as like Filmora it is not the first word in the string).
