Windows 10: Windows security dialog doesn't show "Name and Publisher" when installing USB driver

Hi,

When I am installing a spesific USB driver via Device Manager --> Update driver, I get a Windows Security dialog where: "Name: Unidentified Device", "Publisher: Unknown Publisher".


I have verified the driver's inf file by using InfVerif.exe -tool and the file contains Provider and DisplayName, no errors or warnings. I have also verified .cat file signing by using SignTool.exe C:\"Program Files x86\Windows Kits"\10\bin\10.0.18362.0\x64\signtool verify /pa /v /c "my_driver.cat" "my_driver.inf", no errors or warnings! Output shows "Issued to" correctly, so the Certificate contains the publisher name? The chain seems to be also fine.


So my question is, where and when I should define "Device" and "Publisher" that Windows Security can show them correctly? Where these fields are coming from to this security dialog?? How I can fix the problem? What I have to do to the driver to get it working? I don't want to hide the problem, I want to fix it so that Device name and publisher are shown correctly. I`m sorry I had not noticed that the text on the picture was in spanish. It says that windows has replaced some damaged clusters in "name" file and "directory". Then, at the end "an unspecified error occurred (75736e6a726e6c2e 4f6)".

I`ll do it and I`ll be updating this thread when I have the report.

i dont think anyone here understands what your asking either when its nearly a 90% english dominated Tech forum.
Step 1
reinstall windows from scratch
Step 2
install all drivers from the cd that came with the god damn motherboard *common sense*
Step 3
update windows
Step 4
install misc etc crap like flash java etc etc
Step 5
Install GPU drivers
Step 6
go back to using your pc without issue.

If you having an issue installing a driver that worked before you formatted or wont install on a fresh build, sometimes this means hardware damage
