  1. Windows Security Enter Network Credentials & Redundant Items under 'Network'

    This is driving me potty!

For no apparant reason Network Credentials box has suddenly started appearing it never has before when I go to 'Network Drives' on my QNAP Qfinder to map my NAS.

I did this before with no problems mapping my NAS using the 'Q' drive and it worked flawlessly. However, I had some issues with my computer after having fibre to the house fitted and had to reset everything. So the shared Q drive became redundant and so I decided to set it up again.

Now when I click on network I get this damn Network Credentials box popping up asking me to put my password in Pompeyexile which is my Nas user name. It shows the NAS IP address correctly but whenever I put in the password it says it is wrong. I know it is not wrong because I can access the NAS using exactly that password.

I've turned off password prorected sharing, re-booted my laptop but still this Network Credentials pops up if I try to map my NAS.

Also, under Network I have three connections My laptop name, POMPEYEXILE, and Pompeyexile. clicking on my laptop it has users under it. Clicking on POMPEYEXILE a box appears saying it is not accessible and then the Netwrok Credentials box pops up. When I click on Pompeyexile I get the same two boxes popping up.

How can I get rid of POMPEYEXILE and Pompeyexile to start afresh? I have no idea what I did for them to appear in the first place. and how do I stop the Network Credentals box from popping up? I've also seen that my NAS does not show up on my devices even though I can access it through my Qfinder Pro.

All I want to do is map my NAS which as I said I did last year and it worked a treat.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

    :)

network issues, unable to enter network credentials

I upgraded two desktops to Win 10 (one from Win 7 and one from Win 8.1). I have issues with setting up a network.

First, I tried to set up a homegroup and I failed (i already posted another question on this subject with no luck so far). OK, forget about the homegroup, lets do it without it.

At this point, desktop A can see shared folders and a printer on desktop B - I did have to enter network credentials. Desktop B however cannot. It can see the desktop A under Network but when I click on it, it is asking to Enter network credential to connect to A. When I do that, it says that the user name or password is incorrect (and I am using the same user name and password that I use on desktop A to log on). What am I missing?

Both computers are on the same Workgroup "WORKGROUP". BTW - and I am not sure if that is relevant - when I try to enter credentials on desktop B and it is asking for User name and Password, just below it says "Domain: " - is my logging name.

    Thanks for any suggestion.

  3. Network Credentials

    Hi Sammy,

To assist you better regarding your concern with network credentials, have you checked the Windows credentials for any information about the username and password for the network credentials? If not yet, follow the steps below to access Windows Credentials
    manager.

    • Press the Windows icon on the desktop.
    • Type in Windows Credentials.
We would appreciate as well if you could provide us a screenshot.

Let us know how it goes.
