Windows 10: "Windows Security - File cannot be opened..." - Simple Fix?

When trying to open a file deep in a folder structure, I received an error "Windows Security - File cannot be opened..." I found nothing on the internet that helped. However, I know that The Windows operating system has a maximum pathname length of 260 characters but this limit is often reduced to 255 characters due to some reserved characters that take up extra space. So my intuition led me to copy the file higher in the folder structure to try to reduce the pathname length. This worked. Does this make sense? Why does Microsoft torture us so when the problem is so simple?

Massive Security Flaw - Bitlocked Files Can Be Opened From "Recent Files" ...While "Locked" and Without Password!

Simple steps to reproduce:

1. Unlock a bitlocked drive.
   
2. Open a file from that drive (example = image file)
   
3. Reboot machine, confirm drive is relocked.
   
4. From "Recent Items," attempt to open the file
   
5. The file opens, even though the drive is locked
   

WHOA!

Obviously this is a massive security problem that should never occur, but is there a user-implementable fix?

 

Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

Your device is infected. Step 1 removes the infection and Step 2 fixes Defender.

Step 1:

• Download fixlist.txt
  
• Make sure FRST64.exe and FixList.txt are in the same folder.
  
• Launch FRST64.exe and click "Fix".
  
• Upload the output log file (FixLog.txt) to your OneDrive.

Restart Windows.
