  1. Windows Security Login Prompt Does not Show Username or Password Dialog

In our environment, user can connect to VPN either through choosing the VPN option through the WiFi systems icon tray or opening the Network/VPN options Windows. They also have to authenticate with their credentials to connect for security.

We noticed that for some users mostly on 1909 when they try to connect to a VPN through the WiFi icon options in the systems icon tray or through the Network/VPN options in settings, the Windows Security box appears, with just “Sign in” and no username or password field populates, preventing them from connecting.

We did find a workaround to adjust to have VPN automatically pull Windows Credentials but we DO NOT want this as it is not the best security practice.

Anyone have any insight into if this is a known issue?

  2. Why is windows security asking for username and password

    Hi,

To isolate the issue, please provide the following information:

    • Are you referring to either the Microsoft Security Essentials or the Windows Defender? If not, please specify which Windows security utility is asking for your username and password.
    • Does the issue also occur when you try to connect to other Wi-Fi networks?
    • What username and password is being asked (e.g. Microsoft Account, etc.)? If it's other than your Microsoft Account, please specify which account.
    • What happens when you try to enter your username and password?
    • Were there any changes made on your computer prior to the issue?

    Regards.

  3. No Login Prompt

    Hello,

I performed a clean install of Windows 10 Enterprise on an HP Elitebook 840 G1. After initially logging in, joining to the domain, and installing updates, I no longer get a login prompt to enter my username & password!

I get the three icons in the bottom right corner for Network, Ease of Use, and Shutdown/Restart. Absolutely no dialogs for username & password.

    So strange... any thoughts?

    Thank you!
