    Windows Security Scan Takes too long


    Windows Security, installed on my device, isn't working properly. It recommends me to operate a quick scan daily. When I click 'Scan', it starts its operation as usual. But, it can't finish its operation after 1 hour Quick Scan. It shows me that it's scanning files more than I have in my device. What can I do now?

    Scanning Takes too long

    Time of scanning depends on many factors such as type of your files, activities in your process, your system specification and so on. But 12 hours seems to be very long.

    How long does it takes to perform quick scan?

    Wait a bit more and if it takes too long, then restart your PC and then run defragment and disk clean up.

    Scans take too long

    McAfee expired, but we chose not to renew because I already had SuperAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes (something like that, can't remember exactly), which do fantastic on their own.

    Starting yesterday, the scans take way too much time to scan. Before, SAS in particular doesn't even take 30 minutes to do a full scan. Now, 4 hours and it's not finished. I did Windows Defender (replacement for McAfee) and it took 4 hours for a QUICK scan
    that also didn't finish.

    (Side note, I used virus and malware category because I suspect something may have slipped in from the transition from McAfee to Windows Defender.)
