    Windows Security Troubleshooter cannot detect the status of firewall


    Hi,When I run the Windows Security Troubleshooter, there is a message saying that my Windows Firewall cannot be detected. And when the troubleshooter has finished running, it found an issue that my Windows Firewall is not the default firewall although I am using Windows Firewall as the default firewall. These are shown in the screenshots below. Does anyone know how to fix this issue?

    Windows Firewall Troubleshoot.

    True... alot of security suites have the option in the setup to auto turn-off Windows firewall.

    Also, try resetting Winsock and tcp\ip. This has cured the problem for some people.
    You don't mention the windows version, but these might help:How to reset Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and How to determine and to recover from Winsock2 corruption in Windows Server 2003, in Windows XP, and in Windows Vista.
    Do both, then re-start and try turning it on.

    *Smile Windows Security Troubleshooter cannot detect the status of firewall :)

    Also, if that does not do it; try opening an administrative command prompt and run "sfc /scannow" (without quotes and a space between the c and /) to see if any files have been corrupted and such.

    Windows Firewall is just one option.
    You could try these free ones:
    ZoneAlarm® Free Firewall
    Comodo Firewall

    Just a couple, but there are alot of others.

    My NOD32 AV has a built-in firewall and and sometimes cancels out Windows firewall... Maybe?

    Windows Security Troubleshooter cannot detect the status of firewall

    Windows Firewall security alert keeps popping up.

    Hello,

    Windows Firewall plays an important part in helping to protect your computer against virus and security threats. Your concern is cause by a conflicting changes in your security settings. However we suggest that you turn off Security messages for Network
    firewall temporarily to check if the issue persists. Follow these steps:

    • Click Start menu.
    • Type Control Panel.
    • Choose System and Security > Security and Maintenance.
    • On the left side, click Change Security and Maintenance settings.
    • Uncheck the box on the left side of Network firewall.
    • Restart your computer.

    After an hour, enable Network firewall again. We also recommend that you use another browser and check if the issue persists.

    Note: If you disable Windows Firewall for a long period of time, your computer will be more vulnerable to unauthorized access to your network.
