  1. Windows Security

Whenever I try to open my Adobe Lightroom App the Windows Security App blocks it citing that it blocked controlled folder access. When I go to the security app to change settings it says that my IT Administrator has restricted some access to the app and doesn't let me change the settings that I need to, however I don't have an IT Administrator as this is my personal computer and connected to my home WiFi network. I have tried basic stuff like uninstalling and reinstalling the Lightroom App, resetting the computer, and making sure windows is updated but non of that helped. On a side note does anyone else think it's absolutely bogus to have to pay to get actual live support from a software company that you are already supporting by using their product? Wack.

    :)

That made me so facepalm. Some people have absolutely no clue. I hope they don't take you for granted with all this you're doing for them.

SonicWall is a good security product, so Mindweaver's suggestion sounds like a good one and should make for a rather bigger baby step. Let's hope they take it.

Here is a statement from a Kernal Developer at Red Hat:

I'm not sure this exploits the legacy BIOS but rather it exploits the legacy boot method on MBR drives, injecting a signed key before the OS boots, which you are correct in that it has nothing to do with Windows 8. And the simplest fix would just be to require boot drives use GPT when Secure Boot is enabled in UEFI.
