Windows 10: Windows Server 2016 USB not working

Help,I have a Dell R720 server running Windows Server 2016.The POST boot process before the OS loads progresses normally and I can use the USB keyboard and USB mouse to change settings in the iDRAC and BIOS setup. I have checked the status of the USB ports in iDRAC and they are all enabled. When Windows Server 2016 operating system starts loading the USB mouse and keyboard both immediately stop working the IR light on the mouse goes out when Win Server 2016 starts loading. Windows loads to the point of displaying the Ctrl Alt Delete for user login, however the keyboard and mouse do not work

Windows Server 2016 Upgrade

When updating from windows server 2012 R2 to server 2016, I'm not getting the step by step procedures where you can select keep file and apps and other steps. I just get the setup screen, which after couple of minutes it display a window to select what type of windows server you want to install.

Once selected it does a full install of windows server 2016, which re-images the C drive. Afterwards you have to re-install all your applications.

Any suggestions on why it doesn't go through the step by step procedures.

Strollin: I understand your suggestion, but that means I'll have to re-install all my sofftware etc. again. This is not an enticing thought at all.

LCDR: I tried the old activation code I used before - it is the same on you posted.

I tried the steps listed at the WinAero site. Last one failed because it said the server could not be located. But I did get the Jan 20, 2016 date back. So that's something.
