Windows 10: windows setting close when set default video player

hello guys,i am using windows 10. i try to set vlc as default video player in windows settings-app-default page. It is currently empty selection. However whenever i try to set vlc or anything, the setting windows keep closing. Can you suggest me how to solve this issues. Thank you

Setting default player in Windows 10

I understand that you are willing to set Windows DVD Player as default. I will be glad to help you.

Follow below steps to change the default player:

1. Click on Start > Settings > System.



2. Select "Default apps" from the left hand pane.



3. Scroll down until you see "Music Player" and select it.



4. Choose your default player from the list.



5. Similarly select "Video Player" and choose your default player from the list.

It will now become the default player whenever you're using Windows 10.

No option to set default for media players

Just recently (I think there was an update) there stopped being an option to set a media file type (AVI, WAV, etc)) to open with a certain media player. If I right clicked on a video and selected "open with" I would get a list of my players and an option to always use the player I chose as the default app for that file type. Now that option is gone and everything is defaulted to a windows app "Movies and TV" which cant play .mkv files. So I have to keep selecting the player to use rather than just set it as the default for mkv files. Why did they change this and can I change it back? Thanks

 

Can Media Player in Windows 11 be set to repeat by default?

Hello,

I work with short videos meant to repeat. In Windows Media Player Legacy, when you set videos to repeat, it keeps that setting until you set it to not repeat even if you close it, but in Windows 11 media player, it changes it to "Repeat: Off" every time I close it. I feel like the windows 10 media player kept the setting to what you set it even if you close it, just like legacy media player. It seems like the Photos app & the Movies & TV app act like the Windows 11 player. Is there a setting to have it default to repeat?
