Windows 10: Windows showing more used disk space than it should

The Windows File Explorer says I've used 226 GB out of my 475 GB drive. I thought this number was off, so I checked each large file on the drive (ProgramFiles, ProgramFilesx86, Users, Windows, WindowsUpgrade, etc).

Long story short, it all adds up to 186.55 GB instead of the 226 GB Windows told me I had used, which is a 40 GB difference.

I looked this problem up on Google but the answers there are responding to other questions which have similar phrasing, but are different problems. So, how can I fix this issue? Maybe there's a hidden 40 GB folder I can't see?

Help! Data partition not showing under my computer

This is happening on a windows 2000 server. Our second partition of the system, for data is not showing under my computer. Here are the properties of it in disk management:





Now under logical drives its listed as F and shows free space available.

Suggestions on how to fix this?

  Press Windows key + W and type
  Troubleshooting.

  Select Troubleshooting.
  
• 
  Select view all on the top left corner.

  Click System Maintenance,

I suggest you to run Check Disk which performs an analysis of the disk. Refer to the steps below:

• Press Windows key + X.
• Click on Command prompt (Admin).
• Type chkdsk /f and hit enter.
