Windows 10: Windows shutting down when there is pending update

My laptop Asus R541U was working fine until one days it gets suddenly off while using.

The next few days i worked fine....and then it goes on.

it continued for a while and the period between 'sudden off' became close.

I asked many of my friends and they gave reply as may be battery complaimt,may be heating issue,may be due to pending update.

I dont have a highspeed internet so i has been some time i havent done update.

So i updated my laptop from my friend's house.

From next day it started working fine for almost 4 days.

I took my laptop to a local service centre and they couldnt find any problem.

i checked for updates and there was 2 small updates pending.i done the update it worked fine for some days,and started acting the same way.

Thats when i understood the 'sudden off' was related to pening update.

It keeps happening...

What is the solution for this problem?

To assist you better, I would like to ask what are the methods that you have tried to solve the issue.

The issue might occur if the computer is not shut down properly. so, I suggest you to perform a power drain by follow the steps below and check if it helps.

• Shut down the Computer.
• Remove all power source (including battery if it is a laptop).
• Press and hold the power button for 15-20 seconds.
• Connect the power source and start the computer.
• After the computer boots to the desktop, suggest you to install all the pending updates.

Hi dalchina. Good news, I followed your suggestion and reinstalled the update and now it appears as "installed correctly" *Biggrin Maybe it was not necessary to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter or maybe if necessary. But using it I do not think it could have worsened something. The installation was very fast, unlike the first time it showed step 1 and step 2 completed.

I will suggest you to run the Windows Update troubleshooter and check if it helps.

• Type Troubleshooting in the search and select Troubleshooting.
  
• Click on View all option in the left pane.
  
• Find and click on the Windows update troubleshooter.
  
• Follow the on-screen instructions.
  

If the issue is unresolved, check and install all the pending updates (if any), try updating the windows and check if the issue is resolved.

Follow the steps below to check for the pending updates.

• Press Windows key + I key and click on
  Update & security Windows Update.
  
• Click on Check for updates.
  
• Install the pending updates (if any).
