    Windows Slows Then Speeds Back Up at Second Intervals


    I have a Dell Inspiron Laptop with an intel i7, Nvidia GTX Geforce 1050 and Intel integrated graphics and 8GB RAM (sorry for lack of detail I’m away at the moment and can’t remember exact specs). The laptop is 3 months old and since I got it almost every application has lagged at second intervals, returning to normal speed soon after, only to happen again. I’ve tried googling and running sfc /scannow etc so don’t ask me to scan for errors, I know there aren’t any. Funnily enough it seems the more graphically intense the application is, the less noticiable it is. Eg In games like Fortnite it is barely noticeable, however in CMD and task manager, it is extremely bad.

    • I would suggest you to test the speed using any of the speed test website or app to confirm the upload and download speed.
    • I also suggest you to reset the wireless router to check if that helps.
    • You may plug in the Ethernet cable if available and check the speed.
