Windows 10: Windows start menu is having issues see details

Hello there! My windows start menu is the only place I'm having this issue. Also when I open up my settings, it happens too. I will try to shut down my computer but when I hit "power," it will just highlight over the other options & not allow me to shut down my computer. When I also go to search for something, I can't type it in. It will just automatically go over everything on the screen. I've already unplugged my mouse & keyboard but the same issue continues.           When you say "If I sign in under my user name I am in some earlier version", which version you are referring to?
          
        • 
          Did you made any recent changes to your computer prior to the issue?
          
        • 
          When you say “I cannot access the start menu and am limited to IP as a browser” Is it refers to Microsoft Edge?
          

As an initial steps, I suggest you to check for the Windows version. To do so, follow the below steps:

1) Login to your computer through user name on which it show earlier version of Windows.

2) Press Windows key + r.

3) Type winver, hit enter.

Issues with Start menu in Windows 10

Now, without performing Reset in Windows, the situation can still be salvaged.

Before we proceed further, let us know a few more details on the questions mentioned below.

• Did you make any changes to the computer prior to the issue?
• Did you check if similar issues occur when you login to the computer using a different user account?
• Do you have a System Restore point set in Windows prior to the issue?
• What are the suggested troubleshooting steps you have tried till date?

Troubleshoot problems opening the Start menu or Cortana

If it still does not help, this issue may happen due to system file corruption. I suggest you to run System file checker. System File checker (SFC) scan is done to check if there are any corrupted system files that could be causing
this issue. Kindly follow the below given steps:

  Press Windows key + X, select
  Command prompt (Admin) to bring up elevated Command prompt.

Windows Start issue

Try this:

Right click on your start menu, and click on System:





When the system window comes up, click on Advanced System Settings:




There, click on Startup and Recovery:




Then in the top menu you will have a choice of OSs. Select the one you want to boot to defaultly and uncheck the box for "Time to display list of operating systems."




That should make it boot into Windows 10 without your intervention.
