  1. Windows still looking for old OneDrive in D drive

I have completely removed OneDrive and everytime I open File Explorer it looks for the account folder in my "D:" drive. I used to have a school account stored on there, but I no longer use this account and want it completely removed. I have unlinked the PC and it converts it to a general folder. When I delete the folder I just get the "Location is not available" message everytime I open my D: drive. How do I get my computer to stop trying to find this folder in the D: drive?

    :)

  2. Windows 10 - OneDrive

Right click on the app and one of the properties has an option to not automatically start it. Uncheck, restart the computer, and it should stop. If you want to go another step further, find the OneDrive app in the start menu, right click on it and uninstall.

If that is still insufficient, there is a batch uninstaller for OneDrive available online. I can copy the code here if you need it.

  3. Automatically backing up folders on D: drive to OneDrive

Hi Dale. I'm Greg, 10 years awarded Windows MVP, here to help you.

Symlinks won't work with OneDrive so what I'd do instead of moving D into OneDrive is to move OneDrive to D which is easy to do during it's setup.

You can unlink OneDrive and then sign back in, during setup move the OneDrive folder to D drive. Then anything you put into OneDrive on D drive goes to the cloud, put it elsewhere in D and it doesn't.

You could also move your User folders into OneDrive on the D drive as shown here: https://www.windowscentral.com/how-move-default.... . This is the same as enabling OneDrive backup but it works for all User folders and not just Desktop, Documents and Pictures.

Report back results for each step so I know what else to suggest.

Feel free to ask back any questions. Based on the results you post back I may have other suggestions if necessary.

    D drive

    Hi,

Based on the details you have provided us, it appears that there might be some corrupted contents on the said partition. We can also consider that this is caused by a virus.

For us to check if a certain virus is hiding your files, kindly follow the steps below:

    • Type Command prompt in the search bar.
    • Type-in the following command:

      attrib -h -r -s /s /d D:\*.*
    • Press Enter to execute the command.

If you think that there is nothing important stored in it, then we suggest that you reformat your D drive so that you can use the free space for important files.

You can follow the steps below to start with the process:

    • Click on the File Explorer.
    • Select This PC.
    • Right-click on your D drive, then click on Format.
    • Follow the on-screen process to finish formatting the partition.

Let us know how it goes so that we can further assist you.
