    Hi,Can someone tell me why, when on first use after downloading and installing, does a Microsoft application instantly need to be updated? Why is the latest version not the default version to download in the first place?It's quite frustrating having to repeat steps and complete options you have just done only moments before.     Try the below methods and check if it helps.

    Method 1:

    I suggest you to run the Windows Store Apps troubleshooter.

    Follow the below steps:

    • Type troubleshooting in the search bar.
    • Select Troubleshooting.
    • Select View all on the top left corner.
    • Click on Windows Store Apps.
    • Follow the on-screen instructions to run the troubleshooter.
    Method 2:

    I would suggest you to reset the Windows store and check if it works.

    Follow the below steps to reset the Windows Store:

    1. Press Windows key + R from the
    Desktop and click on Enter.

    2. Type wsreset.exe and click on OK.

    Windows Store not updating existing apps

    We may need to resolve the Windows Update error first, so that you can update the apps on the
    Windows Store. Let's refer to this article. Here are the suggested steps to follow:

    • Choose the version of your Windows (Windows 10).
    • Select No under Step 2 (Run the Windows Update troubleshooter).
    • Download the most recent KB. If you have done this step, click
      No to proceed to Step 4.
    • Run the DISM command. Follow the steps that will be provided.
