  1. Windows Store - Large Downloads

This likely doesn't apply to the majority of users and would only be an issue for people with slower internet speeds. To summarize, I began downloadingSea of Thieves yesterday - allowing the download to run overnight. After approximately 8-10 hours I had downloaded around 30 GB of the total 49.87 GB. Unfortunately, the electricity flickered, causing the system to reboot. Upon resuming the download, it appeared as though it began anew, so I thought perhaps I had chosen the wrong hard drive and cancelled the download. This was a mistake, apparently, as I didhave the correct drive, and by cancelling it, the 30 GB I had already downloaded was removed.

I verified this by checking the WindowsApps directory and confirming the size of the Microsoft.SeaofThieves_2.93.5382.2_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe folder - the same folder which is now gone after cancelling the "installation". I know when Windows Updates are downloaded, a cache is kept on the system, and users are even able to roll back updates using 'old Windows versions' - my question is... are there cache folders or the equivalent of a recycling bin for Windows Store apps? I've checked in the deleted folder within the WindowsApps directory, but its empty. I assume since the game was never fully downloaded and installed, it can't be considereddeleted.

It's just disheartening and frustrating with such a slow internet connection. A 50 GB game takes a solid day for me to download and while I realize this is something only I am able to change, I have to work with what I have. So if anyone knows more about the Windows Store and how it operates, it would save me a LOT of time and frustration. It just seems unlikely that one click can wipe out GBs without confirmation or a way to restore/recover it.

If all else fails, I suppose I'll use an alternative method - being a friend of mine down the road, driving to his house, and copying the folder to a USB drive, all of which would take about 15 hours less time to do! Still, for future reference, it would be nice to know whether or not the Windows Store has even remnants of the 30 GB I downloaded. I plan to look more into this later but thought maybe by the time I'm able to dedicate some time to this, with any luck, I may find some answers in the replies to this post.

    Thank you!

    :)

  2. free apps in windows 10 store is not downloading

    Hi Raymond,

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

Inconvenience regretted. Have you tried any troubleshooting steps so far?

Windows has a built-in troubleshooter to check and fix issues. I would suggest you to run this troubleshooter.

    • Press Windows key +X, select Control panel
    • Change the view by option on the top right to Large icons
    • Click on troubleshooting and click on the view all option on the left panel
    • Run Windows Store App troubleshooter.

If the issue persists I would also suggest you to go to C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download
folder, select all and delete the files in it and try to download again.

    Hope it helps.
