    Windows Store STILL downloading stuff to my C drive after I told it not to


    I'm trying to download Forza Horizon 4, and despite setting its install location to my D drive, and changing the "new apps will save to:" setting to D:\, it's still downloading a small amount of shit to my C drive. Is there any way I can get it to download absolutely NOTHING to my C drive? I have barely any space on it

    I suggest you to follow the steps below for the Windows store downloads.


    • Press Windows + E.

    • Click on This PC at the top left corner.

    • Click on C: Drive.

    • Click on Program files.

    • Click on Windows Apps.

    Windows 10 forced download

    To stop the download, uninstall the KB3035583 update (under "Control Panel > Windows Update > Installed Updates").


    To get rid of the C:\$Windows.~BT folder:
    • Right-click on your C: drive.
    • Select "Properties".
    • Click on [ Disk Cleanup ]
    • After the initial scan: If you have a [ Clean up system files ] button, click it and wait for the second scan to finish.
    • Scroll down the list and look for "Temporary Windows installation files" (its size should be in the gigabytes range); check the box.
    • Click on [ OK ] to start the clean-up.
