Windows 10: Windows Store & Xbox App beta are broken

Hi.


I am having an infuriating issue with these two windows apps. At first i noticed that windows store wasn't installing anything a few days ago, however i ignored as it wasn't apps i was interested in. I then noticed today that the Xbox App wouldn't update any games. So i uninstalled the game and tried to re install but i got stuck on preparing. Having spent an hour or two on google looking for solutions but having no luck i tried to talk direct to Microsoft but no help. Just the Xbox Gamer agents they have. One of them started to offer good advice and involved uninstalling the MS store from power shell then re installing, still no fix.


I then decided to uninstall the Xbox app full stop as it also wasn't launching half the games in the library. i then attempted to re install the app however it gets stuck with no progress on the installer .exe. No network activity either. I'm now lost at what to do. Do i reinstall windows? i dont really want to having about 2tb of installed applications.


Any help is greatly appreciated.

Xbox App and Xbox App (Beta) keep crashing on Windows 10

Hi,

There are several reasons why the Xbox App (Beta) keeps on crashing. It is possible that the app is not updated or there is a software conflict with the other apps installed on your PC. To resolve your concern, We suggest that you perform the following solutions
on your PC:

Solution 1. Run the Windows Apps troubleshooter by clicking the
Run troubleshooter button on this link to fix problems with apps
from Microsoft Store.

Solution 2. Reset the Windows Store to clear the Store cache.

• Press Windows key + X on your keyboard.
  
• Click on Command prompt (Admin).
  
• Type wsreset.exe, and then hit Enter.
  

Solution 3. Uninstall and reinstall the Xbox App to update it.

• Click Start, and then type Windows PowerShell in the search box.
  
• Right-click, and then select Run as administrator.
  
• Type the following command to uninstall Xbox app: Get-AppxPackage *xboxapp* | Remove-AppxPackage
  
• Hit Enter.
• Launch Windows Store and download the
  Xbox App (Beta).
