Windows Store "You'll need a new app to open this about link" issue with Rockstar Games...

I only have this message pop up when trying to use the Rockstar launcher. The moment I click on it, the message pops up and it continues flashing for a few seconds, not letting me click on anything on my screen. I tried every solution I could find on the internet and none have worked. I even went as far as disabling the Windows Store and deleting it from the system files and the message still popped up., The difference is that it did not suggest I search the Windows Store for the missing app in question. Please help me solve this, I'm pretty desperate at that point as none of the solutions online have worked for me including the ones with the PowerShell commands.

    :)

Mail app will not open on 10041.

    Hello Adam,

This is the suggested solution below if you haven't already tried it. Windows Store "You'll need a new app to open this about link" issue with Rockstar Games... :)

In this Windows 10 build 10041, the Mail, Calendar, and People apps may be broken due to a licensing issue with the Store Beta. To get these apps working again, you need to follow these steps:

    • Open powershell as administrator
    • Run the command Get-appxprovisionedpackage –online | where-object {$_.packagename –like “*windowscommunicationsapps*”} | remove-appxprovisionedpackage –online
    • Re-install Mail, People and Calendar from the Store (green tile)

  3. Store apps not opening

    Hi Charlie,

    Thanks for the update.

Please reply to a few questions for understanding the issue better:

    • Are you facing issue only on playing Sniper fury?
    • Does the issue occur only on playing games downloaded from Windows Store?

If the issue occurs specifically on playing Sniper fury, I suggest you to uninstall and reinstall the game to check if the issue is resolved.

If the issue persists on all the games downloaded from Windows Store,
reset the store cache by following the steps below and check if the issue is resolved.

Resetting Windows store will clear, and empty the cache without changing account settings or deleting the installed apps. It is usually located in the
    %SYSTEM% folder in the PC.

    • Open Run command by pressing Windows Key + R.
    • Type wsreset.exe and press Enter.
    • Open Windows Store and check if the app can now be installed/purchased on your device.

Also check your internet connectivity speed on the PC. The issue may also occur if the speed of the internet is low on the PC which might affect the game performance.

Write to us for further assistance regarding the issue, we will be happy to help you.

    Thank you.

Apple Claims Steam Link App Violates App Store Guidelines

Here's what Valve is contending with:
App Store Review Guidelines - Apple Developer

The ones that stand out that may have caught Steam Link:
So yeah, there's a lot of reasons why Steam Link would get rejected.

App submissions and approvals is a thing between developer and Apple. Valve intentionally let this information leak probably because Apple's restrictive guidlines will never allow Steam Link to be on the store. Valve is hoping the Steam user base makes a lot of noise so Apple grants Valve and exemption. I doubt it will work. Apple loves control and Steam Link is a portal into the Linux/Windows ecosystem. Even if Steam Link were exclusive to Mac OS, Apple would likely demand Valve use Mac OS's remote desktop features rather than Steam Link.

I'd be shocked if Apple allows it.
