    When trying to upgrade from Windows 8.0 to 8.1 I get an error msg. that the app is not installed.
    It starts out telling you that you can upgrade to 8.1
    next it shows the file size etc for downloading
    Then you get the error that the app is not installed and you can view a message
    that windows is getting your upgrade ready and you will be notified. You can
    continue to use your machine. However to get out of the screen you have to use
    the charms and select the start screen. Is there a way to notify them of the problem?

    1. Have you searched for "feedback" in Windows 8? I don't have anything but Windows 10 on my computers so can't tell you exactly where feedback would be in Windows 8.

    2. Why do you want to upgrade from 8 to 8.1? Is it because you think it is required to upgrade to Windows 10? If that is the case, it is not required. You can upgrade from 8.0 to 10 here:
    Windows 10

    Windows 8.1 is only required to get the Windows 10 upgrade to show up in Windows Update.

    3. If you really want to upgrade to Windows 8.1, you can use this:

    NavyCMDR thank you for the answers.
    I help Seniors out in our community and it helps sometimes to have what they are running.
    I have done this install before without any problems. I am aware of the requirements for 10
    and have it on my wife's and my own personal machines.

    Then I would try the Windows 8.1 Media Creation Tool. You should be able to upgrade to Windows 8.1 with the ISO file just like you can upgrade to Windows 10 with the ISO file. Just mount it and run setup.exe inside it from Windows 8.0.

    NavyCMDR had I waited about 15 more minutes all would have been OK.
    It really was getting 8.1 ready to upgrade the system as all of a sudden a
    message came up stating not to turn off the machine as it was upgrading.
    so their message was right but no indications that they were downloading
    the upgrade.
