Windows 10: Windows Suddenly Deactivated?

    Windows Suddenly Deactivated?


    I turned on my Dell laptop this morning and suddenly I have this annoying "Activate Windows: Go to Settings to activate Windows" floater in the bottom right corner. This is a used laptop so I don't know if the person before me only bought a subscription to the OS, but I didn't even think Windows was a subscription OS in the first place? Very confusing.Then, I cannot open my start menu, or my search bar at all. The buttons don't work, and all shortcuts via keys that I have tried do not work either. So, I can't access my Settings to even figure out why it's throwing me this floater in the first

    Same issue started today as was reported on November 8th, 2018.

    Windows Suddenly Deactivated?

    Windows Update suddenly hangs?

    Windows Update is suddenly hanging for some reason... I went and downloaded and installed the first bunch of updates, restarted when asked, and now when I go back to windows update I just get the window with a white box forever. Reboot and it still does it. This happens to be on my main machine, running windows 7.

    I've also noticed when I reboot it says configuring windows update, step 3 of 3, 47%. Maybe it somehow skipped something and is screwed forever?
