Windows 10: Windows switched to PIN login and we forgot PIN code.

Hello!My brother has been using his computer for a while and to enter it he uses the picture password since it's the easiest to remember, however recently Windows randomly switched to PIN and we don't remember setting a PIN. We've tried resetting the PIN but the email Windows is using to reset the PIN has been long deleted and we don't use it anymore.Currently, we are stuck on the login screen and can't do much else! If we could switch from PIN to picture password or even the standard password login, it would help!Thanks!

Switch to PIN login

Give this a try:

Delete NGC folder and add a new PIN code

Go to C:\Windows\ServiceProfiles\LocalService\AppData\Local\Microsoft\NGC.

In NGC folder delete all the files. To do so you must be logged as Administrator.

Now go to Settings > Accounts > Sign-in Options.

Click Add a PIN and add a new PIN code for your account.

Now the PIN login should be working again.

Switch to local account and add a PIN code

Option 2:

try to switch to local account, and the add a PIN code. Here’s how to do that:

Go to Settings > Accounts and locate your account.

Click Sign in with a Local Account instead.

Follow the instructions to set up a local account.

Sign out and sign in with your local account.

Now add a PIN code.

After you’ve added your PIN code you need to locate your account under the Accounts section in Settings.

Choose Sign in with a Microsoft Account instead.

That’s it, PIN login should be working now for your account

 

Can't create pin for login. Pin stopped working

Try the steps here:

• Navigate to PC Settings -> Accounts -> Sign-in options. Click on I forgot my PIN link.
• Next, click on the Continue button in the Are you sure you forgot your PIN? screen.
• You can now add a new PIN and click OK.

I setup a login pin on my Laptop Account using my email address. I forgot my PIN and i cannot access my laptop anymore. How can i remove the PIN using my microsoft account? I already know its password.
