  1. Windows system settings shows my 1TB drive as a 2TB drive with 980GB of system files

I'm having a bit of an odd problem. I currently have Windows installed on a 1TB NVMe drive, however I recently noticed that the System > Storage section in Windows Settings shows the drive as having 1.86TB of total space, which is definitely not accurate. It does show the correct amount of free space that is left on the drive 775GB, and the extra ~900GB are shown as being taken up by system files.

Both disk management and file explorer correctly report the drive as 1TB, it only seems to be Windows settings that is confused. I tried running chkdsk /F as well as sfc, but neither of them fixed the issue. I also ran scans on the drive and checked its SMART info for signs that it might be failing, however it seems to be perfectly healthy. Other software all report the drive's capacity correctly, so I'm inclined to believe the problem is with Windows rather than the drive itself. Has anyone run into an issue like this?

Cloning from 1TB to 2TB hard drive

Whats a good free imaging/cloning program? I have a 1TB hard drive with Win7 and I want to seamlessly migrate my stuff to a 2TB hard drive. Any suggestions?

External Hard Drive not showing under Settings > Storage

An external hard drive is not shown in Windows 10 Pro > Settings > System > Storage. It can also not be selected to save new content on it (Storage > More storage settings > Change where new content is saved.

The hard drive does show up in the disk manger, file explorer and even as Backup (Settings > Update & security > Backup).

    Unsuccessful attempts to fix:

    Info:

    • System: Windows 10 Pro
    • Version: 1703 (Build 15063.877)
    • Hard Drive: WD Elements 2TB, USB 3.0
    • Format: NTFS, ReFS, FAT32 (tried all)

Cloning from 1TB to 2TB hard drive

Hello, Migrating a 1TB Hard Drive to a 2TB HDD is very possible.

My Rig started out on just 160GB, when I upgraded HDDs, I cloned my 160 GB into a newly bought 500GB HDD. (it was an OS HDD)

Then on the next HDD upgrade(I bought a 1 TB) I cloned that 500GB to a 1 TB HDD.

    No problems at all.

From what I can remember the program I used was Acronis?? I forgot. But it ran the cloning process outside of windows. the cloning took like 30 to 1 hr. then I switched drive letters and the newly bought HDD is now my boot device.
