Windows 10: Windows System Sounds Problem

My Windows sounds have gone missing, Windows 11 22H2. I go into Control Panel, Hardware and Sound, select Change System Sounds and then the Sounds tab. If I click test on any of them they are all silent. Clicking browse to change them takes me to C:/Windows/Media and I can see all the sounds are there. I click on a new one, it plays from there just fine, I select it and we are back at the Sounds window. Click test again for the new sound but we are still silent???Any idea why I can test the sounds while browsing/selecting them but they are still silent in Windows?

  What is the make and model of your computer?
  

I would suggest you to perform the in-built sound troubleshooter and check the issue.

• 
  Type Troubleshooting in search box and type
  Enter.
  
• 
  Click on View All on top left corner.
  
• 
  Click on Playing Audio from the list and follow the prompts for
  troubleshooting.
  

There seem to be some setting or driver issue. I suggest you to uninstall the driver through Device Manager and let system install the compatible driver.

  Open run command by pressing Windows key + R and type “devmgmt.msc” (without quotes) and hit
  Enter.
  
• 
  Spot and expand the “Sound, video and game controllers”.
  
• 
  Right click on the High Definition Audio Device driver and select “Uninstall” then restart the system and let the system install the driver automatically on Start. Check and see if it resolve the issue.
  (Recommended step).

We need to investigate further so that we can identify the cause of the issue. We suggest running the Troubleshooter and see if it helps. Follow the steps below:

• Type and select Troubleshooting on the Search bar/Cortana.
• Click Hardware and Sound.
• Select Playing Audio under Sound.
• Follow the steps that will be provided.

If the steps does not work. We suggest downloading a fresh copy of the audio driver from Realtek and see if it helps.
