Windows 10: Windows tablet (running 8.1) as wireless display for laptop

Hi everyone!

I recently got my mom's windows tablet running Windows 8.1 with bing ( as it says).


It's not a super fast tablet but it works very well for simple tasks. So i was wondering if i could use it as an external display for my laptop. Only problem is, it needs to be wireless as it obviously has no display input and I also don't have any display outputs free on my laptop anymore.


I don't know what program would allow me to use it as an extra display wireless. I would like it to be pretty seamless as well, that i can just drag windows to it just like you would with any other display.

Tablet is running Windows 8.1 with Bing

My laptop is running Windows 10

Best windows 8 tablet?

I've apple ipod touch 4g, google nexus 4, hp envy 17 3d, so using all 3 OS - iOS, android, windows 7.

I dont have any tablet yet..thinking to buy windows 8 tablet..

i like hp envy x2 much..tablet cum notebook..

but microsoft surface and many other good tablets in market and i dont have idea..

suggest me best windows 8/?RT tablets..

Wireless display on windows 10

Miracast is a standard for wireless connections from devices like laptops, tablets, etc., to external displays like TVs or monitors. If your computer supports the Miracast display; then, you will see an option as
Add a wireless display. To check if Miracast is supported on your device, you may follow the steps below:

• Press Windows + R on your keyboard, and then type in
  dxdiag; then, hit Enter.
• Click the Save all Information button located at the bottom, and save the text file at the desired location.
• Open the text file and look for Miracast. Next to it will be the current availability status.

Windows Wireless Display Adapter-not connecting anymore

Hello Phillip,

Did you notice any changes on your PC prior to the issue? I suggest that you follow the steps outlined in this support article:
Troubleshooting Wireless Display Adapters.

Since updating drivers did not work, in addition, you can try to reset the Wireless Adapter.

1. On the adapter, press and hold the reset button for 10 seconds.
2. When the message " Ready to connect "shows, open the
   Action Center.
3. Select Connect, and in the list of displays, select
   Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter.
