Windows 10: Windows Taskbar should show app icons in multiple columns when docked to either side and...

Currently the Taskbar allows for multiple rows of apps when docked to the top/bottom, but does not allow multiple columns of app icons when docked to either side. without the highly annoying scrolling back and forth When the Taskbar is expanded docked to the sides the app icons are just centered, completely wasting the space to the left and right side of the icons. Interestingly the System Tray icons do work as desired and spread in to multiple columns.



Most devices already have sufficient horizontal screen real state, but lack vertical. Think of how much scrolling you have to do in most apps/websites. For this reason having the taskbar on the sides makes a lot of sense, however on the side you have less room for app icons and it becomes very important to allow for multiple columns.



I searched around and can't find anyone else complaining about this in Windows 10. Am I the only one who thinks this is a big deficiency in Windows? Are there others who use the Taskbar docked to the sides having this issue?

Ok, so those icons are QuickLaunch icons. In that case, this solves nothing. Running apps are still in just one column ;-(

Edwin, your taskbar seems to be what I need - but I can't get how to make it...
Could you describe step by step, in a fool-proof way, and since the very beginning, how to make it?
I don't see how to make it by adding a toolbar (?). I made a folder on a desktop, added it as a new toolbar. So I have a new toolbar on my taksbar, and the icons of the open applications keep on being in just one column.
What do I miss...?
