Windows 10: Windows Threshold: Partners get access to the builds

Later this month, Microsoft is expected to release a public build of Windows Threshold for use by developers and enthusiasts alike. But, if you are a top tier Microsoft partner, there is a good chance that you already have access to these builds.
It was tipped to Neowin a few weeks back that partners were starting to get more recent builds of Threshold and we have been able to confirm that this is true. But, if you are thinking that this will mean a leak soon, don't get too excited as there are many security features in place to discourage these groups from letting anyone see the contents. On top of this, not all features are enabled in these builds.

Consumers are expected to be allowed to test-drive the new Windows 9 Preview later this month, but according to a new report, Microsoft’s partners have already received an early build of the operating system and are running it as we speak.

The information comes via Neowin, who also writes that some OEMs actually got the preview version of Windows 9 a few weeks ago, but the majority are only now getting their hands on what’s said to be the very first glimpse of Microsoft’s new operating system

Unfortunately for people who expected to see a leak happening when partners received the testing build, this is very unlikely due to the new security measures implemented in these new ISOs, as Microsoft

wants to make sure that nobody publishes early versions of the software

to the web before the public launch later this month.

KB3172983 not installed... cannot install it stand-alone. What can I do to fix this?

So I was able to discover a tool that allows one to download a specific build of Windows 10. I downloaded threshold 1 of Windows 10 (the RTM build, 10240). And the install worked!

Now I'm wondering if I should try 1607 again, or apply an interim build (threshold 2) first... any suggestions?

10565 Activate older key

Build 10565 can be activated with the Product key for Windows 8 as long as it matches the edition of Windows 10 Build 10565 that you install. The current stable insider build is 10240. Slow ring insiders are still on 10240. Only fast ring insiders are
on 10565.

I suggest that you wait a couple of weeks before installing the SSD. Threshold 2 is expected to release to the general public in early November (Nov. 2 is the rumor). Threshold 2 is the next stable build and an .iso should immediately be available upon
public release. Threshold 2 will be the first stable build that includes the update to the activation procedures you are asking about.
