  1. Windows UEFI mode breaks network / USB communication

I'll try to make long story short, but I'm probably going to fail.I am trying to UPGRADE from my current Windows 10 Home 22H2 to Windows 11. I think this particular drive started out as Windows 8.1 with a computer I bought back in 2014? PC Health check says all good. Every method I've tried:Windows Update though Settings > Update & SecurityUpdate Assistant download from MicrosoftISO media download from MicrosoftThey all go to 87%, and it fails.I have a AsusTek PRIME B450M-A II mobo. BIOS Version/Date 3810, 11/21/2022Things I've done to get it ready:Converted boot drive from MBR to GP

  2. Safe mode with networking

    Hi,

Thank you for posting your query on Microsoft Community.

Please reply: Is it a wired or wireless connection?

Sometimes it might not work since safe mode allows only a minimum drivers.

I would suggest you run the Network Troubleshooter and see if it fixes your issue.

    Please follow the steps below:

    • Type “Troubleshooting” on the Windows Search bar and hit enter.
    • On the left side of the Troubleshooting window, click on “View all”
    • Click on Network Adapter. Please provide a password if asked for it and click ok.
Hope this helps. Please reply if you have further related queries.

    Regards,

  3. Failing to install Windows 10 in UEFI boot mode

    Hi

I’ve been reading articles in this community and others the last couple of days and I’m getting more and more confused.

I have made my first build with the following equipment:

Asus Prime Z370-P (Bios version 1002x64, firmware 11.8.50.3470)

    Intel Core i5 8400 2,8GHz

    Samsung 860 EVO Series MZ-76E250B 250GB

    and other..

I purchased a Windows 10 Home Eng Retail licence on USB directly from Microsoft.

When installing Win 10 it always ends up being installed in Legacy BIOS mode.

First time, I only followed the instructions on screed and had a successful installation, but in Legacy Bios mode.

The second time I made the following change the UEFI:

    Boot\Secure boot\OS type = Windows UEFI mode

Installation was still being made in Legacy Bios mode.

    Third time

    Boot\Secure boot\OS type = Windows UEFI mode

When Win 10 installation started I entered the cmd prompt and made the following commands in order to change to gpt

    Diskpart

    List disk

    Select disk 0

    convert gpt

    Exit

I then continued with Windows installation which still ended up in Legacy Bios mode.

    I’m getting crazy and I don’t know what I’m going to do : (

What do I need to change in the UEFI?

What do I need to do to prepare the disk for UEFI mode?

Is my purchased Windows 10 USB key prepared for UEFI mode?

Can someone describe, step by step what I need to do?

  4. Windows UEFI mode breaks network / USB communication

Install Windows 10 using UEFI bootable USB thumb drive

You need to go into you system bios and select allow uefi usb drive. Then add the UEFI usb drive to the boot menu

better way to partition aand create an bootable usb.

For the UEFI system, we can use these steps to create the bootable USB:

1.Locate a 4GB or larger USB flash drive

2.Open Diskpart and run the following command cmd admin type diskpart

    • Type DiskPart in the command prompt.
    • Type "List Disk” (make note of the disk number of the target USB drive).
    • Type "Select Disk X”, where X is the target USB drive noted in step 4.
    • Type "Clean”.
    • Type "Create Partition Primary”.
    • Type "format FS=fat32 quick”.
    • Type "Active”.
    • Type "Assign".
    • Type "Exit".

Copy your ISO files to the drive and reboot

never use UEFI it better to repartition and remove UEFI go with legacy bois
