Windows 10: Windows unexpected rollback 2 YEARS!! Data wiped as if it never existed!!!

I came home to find my PC locked up and had to hard reboot. It came up slowly and I found missing programs, programs long ago removed were back, missing data files, tax records, photos, etc. It's as if my computer had been off for 2 years!!! This is a big deal.This is a substantial Windows defect!! It's one thing to roll back an OS without approval, but orders of magnitude when it wipes out personal files too.

Rollback after 1 year validity expires

Can I rollback to Windows 8.1 version after the 1 year validity expires? If I install the update and am facing performance related issues, can I switch back to the pre-existing version? If yes, how do I do it? Will I lose my data on doing it?

This update totally destroyed me, which was not totally unexpected.

I have noticed that update issues are fairly common occurrences.

Microsoft must have a site that lists step by step actions that they want you to take when Windows 10 Updates and trashes a system?

Does such a site exist? Where do I go to get help?

Step 1:
sfc /scannow

Step 2:
Dism

Step 3:
etc.. Uninstall Video Drivers and reinstall

 

Will using Storage Spaces wipe out data already on external drive?

Windows 10 says i am low on space and suggests using Storage Spaces. I have an external hard drive with lots of space that I was going to use, rather than buy another drive. Will moving data to save space from my PC to the drive work if there is already
data on the external, and, will it wipe out the existing data if I can move additional data to the external?
