Windows 10: windows update 1803

On 17/07/2018 my computer was updated with the latest windows 10 version 17134.167 upon reboot it went into a continuous loop of attempting to restart the computer. After I turned it off for 20 minutes I was able to restart the computer. However within minutes it blue screened the computer, message read WHEA Uncorrectable Error. I point out that I had my operating system on a Transcend SSD370. Upon a further restart NTLDR error on black screen.

As I has another identical SSD with a backup on it I rather stupidly put this on in an attempt to access my computer. Result nothing. It did not see the hard drive. Looking at the original Hard drive on another machine it was blank! I had lost everything. the backup drive is still in tact however will not boot.

As I also has a spare SATA drive I reloaded windows onto it and was up and running pretty swiftly. As I am not sure what happened as the SSD drive with windows 10 on had worked quite happily over the last year with windows 10 on it, in fact an earlier version of 1803 was working quite nicely until this latest incarnation. 17134.167.


Any advise as to Why? I understood an update was supposed to have prevented this update from been installed on to certain SSD drives apparently not.


I write this to advise others that if using SSD drives you need to be sure you have backed up everything and probably best to turn off windows update until a full solution to all SSD drives is found. I am now using Sata drives on both of my machines as a precaution, I did hear yesterday that some new Lenovo laptops with SSD drives were crashing!


Have I missed something? to be honest I had not heard of SSD problems as mine were working ok.


Microsoft needs to sort this asap as I am sure I will not be the only one Complaining.

Win10: windows update stuck at never ending loop ?

When in win10:

• Update&security -> Windows update -> Finding update... .... .... ....

Planning to download the latest Win10.ISO (vers.1803) and manually update:
- Then wait that my ordered new SSD arrives and clone the old HDD to it.

Any Office365 users here? Does Outlook (or any Office app for that matter) request activation after each system restart post this Windows 1803 update?

• How did you upgrade your computer to Windows 1803?
• Did you get any error messages?
• Do you have a 3rd party antivirus installed on your PC?

Normally, if your PC meets the requirements for the upgrade, it will be offered to you. If your PC doesn't have an incompatible hardware, then we can proceed with troubleshooting steps.
