Windows 10: Windows update 2/12/2025 causing bit locker trigger.

Today 2/12/2025, I updated my Lenovo Yoga with an update. This triggered the blue bit locker screen. I made every attempt to unlock it but it will not let me type anything in. I tried to hard reset it by holding down the power button, and it keeps saying the same thing but will not allow me to do anything. I also had to reset my recovery email, which will not let me have the code for 30 days. This is absolutely ridiculous and I don’t know what more I can do. I have tried everything that I have read and nothing is working. I should have gone with a MacBook.

Bit locker initiated after windows update

Hi curious to know if there is any solution to bit locker problem caused by a recent windows update (KB5012170) . A family member's win 11 pc boots up to bit locker looking for a key to unlock. He had auto updates on and after this update and 2 reboots bit locker self initiated and he does not have a key. Computer is basically useless now through no fault of his....any help would be greatly appreciated especially since he is a senior citizen. thanks!

This issue might be due to problems with change in group policy settings for bit locker.

To assist you better, please provide us the below information:

• Have you created any system restore point on the computer prior to the issue?

I suggest you to manage the bit locker settings in the group policy settings by following the below link and check if it helps.

First before performing any changes in Bit locker settings, I suggest you to create System Restore point on the computer. So that we can restore back to previous Windows state if any issues occurs.
