Windows 10: Windows update 9 08 2020

windows update deleted my info from explorer and firefox book marks all my passwords my pictures and documents I saved also erased my music and videos Why would it do that and where do i find them?

Failed to install 2020-08 Cumulative Update/KB4566782

Hello, I've run into the following issue while updating Windows 10.

Windows Update tried to install the 2020-08 Cumulative Update. It downloaded, installed and requested to restart. Upon restarting, it blue-screened stating SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED. It looped once
more with the same problem and eventually went into self-recovery mode, automatically uninstalling the update (and then booting into Windows without issues).

The 2020-08 Cumulative Update no longer appears through Windows Update. I checked my installed version (19041.388) and indeed it is left behind (the latest version is 19041.450). The patch responsible for upgrading
is KB4566782, so I headed over to Microsoft Update Catalog found it and tried to install it manually. The result was exactly the same as before, failure due to SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED.

I have verified my Windows installation through the Deployment Image Servicing and Management (DISM) tool as well as 'sfc /scannow' but none of these tools found any issues.

Any ideas/suggestions on how to overcome this issue? Thanks in advance!

Hi dalchina. Good news, I followed your suggestion and reinstalled the update and now it appears as "installed correctly" *Biggrin Maybe it was not necessary to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter or maybe if necessary. But using it I do not think it could have worsened something. The installation was very fast, unlike the first time it showed step 1 and step 2 completed.

Dynamic Update listed in MUC

Hello--From the Update Catalog I see some updates marked Dynamic. I have not seen those packages in Windows Update list.

What are Dynamic Updates? The latest one is 2020-08

Also I see SSU updates in MUC, but do not see the SSU packages in Windows Update.

I did not install the 2020-07 SSU update.

The 2020-08 SSU update KB 4569073 was released 8/10

I only see that listed in MUC.

Should I go ahead and install the 2020-08 SSU update?
