Windows 10: Windows Update Assistant won't work

Everytime I start the Windows 10 October 2020 Update Assistant, it chews me out with this error:

"Error: Can't find the necessary file. Please check if you have permission to write to the installation folder."

I'm an Administrator running Windows 10 Pro.

I have an ASUS Vivobook Laptop 15 X509FJ.

I'm not in the Windows Insider Program should I be?.

Please help me! I'm dying to get the October update.

Windows updates won't install!

I had the same problem when i repaired my O/S, i forgot the steps on how to fixed it, but it is in the microsoft support forum.

You have to reinstall the windows updater, then restart the updating service.
