Windows 10: Windows Update August 19

This update has become a nightmare. The operating system on my laptop appears to have reverted to an initial installation of Windows 10. Windows update troubleshooting couldn't identify the problem.


All my calendars were deselected in my outlook calendar.


The apps are frozen and non functional. Apps such as calendar, mail, NotepadX, feedback hub, Microsoft store, are simply frozen and nothing opens. When I troubleshoot for the windows store apps, I receive a message stating "You've been signed in with a temporary profile. Windows can't save your work or settings, so you'll need to restart you PC and sign in again. Copy anything you worked on to an external hard drive as it will be deleted when you sign out" I've attempted to use the snippet tool to capture a picture, but that too is completely useless.


As was previously suggested I deleted the updates, however the problem remains. It appears to be the security update

KB4508433 and I cannot uninstall that update.


Anytime I attempt to open any app that is not a default app I receive a message stating that" I'll need a new app to open this MS windows store link" - completely useless as the app will not open. I can resolve the issue with the default apps, by going into settings and apps, default apps, then choosing either set default apps by file type or set default apps by app, whichever I prefer.


If I reboot the computer anything that I've managed to resolve is wiped out.


This is a personal laptop. I do not have business tech support. I can usually resolve minor issues on my own. HOWEVER, this is beyond anything I've ever encountered.

It would appear that others are also having a multitude of issues with this update.


I will continue to attempt to resolve this, however Microsoft needs to resolve this update. I cannot describe how frustrated and disappointed this has made me. I have also advised anyone I know with Windows to avoid this update at all costs until they back everything up. BEYOND UNHAPPY

Windows 10 August 19 update

The only option it gives me is to restore to before August 25, which is when Geek Squad reinstalled the update. Will this restore point not simply take me back to the August 19 update, which is where the problem started?

 

Update August 18 - 19

I proceeded with the steps to remove the updates and all updates were removed, however, after 3 reboots functionality has still not returned. The only current update showing is the security update (KB4508433) installed August 18. All apps listed above are
still not functioning. All my files, documents, photos, etc are gone. I am not tech savvy in any way, so not exactly sure why this happened, or how I can resolve it. I have paused updates until the 15th, but am uncertain what I can do at this point to restore
my windows to it's previous state. I am running windows 1903, would that make a difference?

 

Update August 18 - 19

the download finished August 19 for Windows 10 has completed and now all my apps are non functional - Mail, Notepadx, Calendar, Todo and Microsoft News. I am being advised that I need to download a new app to refresh/update the existing and the microsoft
store is also an app that is nonfunctioning. Is there a problem with the update? Also, all my files are now in the recycle bin? Pictures/documents etc. What has the new update improved?
