    laptop model = lenovo ideapad pro 5 16aph8mo: PF9XB3828024MTM: 83AR000SUKmfg: 2023/8/28OS: Windows 11 unsure of build# before borked updateeverything was fine. i was shutting down and windows11 offered an update, i didn't investigate, don't know what the id was, just allowed it. i haven't been using the laptop much, so it could have been a couple of months of updates.next boot failed. automatic repair option failed. system reset keep files didn't help, system reset total reinstall delete files didn't help.i got annoyed with microsoft and decided to install ubuntu, which i did, and which

    Windows updates won't install!

    I had the same problem when i repaired my O/S, i forgot the steps on how to fixed it, but it is in the microsoft support forum.

    You have to reinstall the windows updater, then restart the updating service.

    Exactly. The BIOS effectively are software in mainboard flash memory. It isn't firmware anymore. There's nothing to stop OEMs from putting whatever they want in that space.


    Lenovo has been on my shit list since not long after they bought out IBM's PC division. The Windows reinstall disks were 1 disk Windows, 6 disks mandatory crapware. Welcome to the next generation crapware.

    link     contains an article by Andre Da Costa, wherein he listed on how to determine if the PC is compatible with the Windows 10. Please check if your Windows 10 has now the version 1709 by pressing
    Win + R then type winver. Select your OEM on the list and check if Lenovo has an update for the drivers on your laptop. You may also need Lenovo to assist you if there's an update with your laptop's system BIOS.
