I got an Intel NUC with Windows 10 Pro pre-installed. Installed an nvme SSD over a year ago, cloned the drive over, set SSD as boot drive, everything fine, computer boots from SSD.Notice recently that windows has somehow set the old platter drive back to the boot driveSet SSD as boot drive again, wipe the platter drive, it boots up from SSD with no problemWindows is now a version of windows from 2021 that's what was on cloned SSD but everything fine, update firefox, back in actionDo first set of windows updates, everythingSecond set of windows updates the next night, computer suddenly won't

    Windows Update keeps failing!

    Hi,

I had once a similar issue like yours, i.e. not able to update Windows 7. What I did to solve the problems is:

    - go to control panel, then to "Troubleshouting" > "System and Security" > "Fix problems with Windows update" > click "Advanced" > choose "Apply repairs automatically".

And Windows will start detecting the issues and will repair "Windows update components". The problems should be fixed now, close the program, restart the PC, and see if the mentioned steps have fixed the problems you mentioned.

    Hope it works for you.

    Good luck!

Do windows updates slow down the computer?

While downloading and installing the updates, Windows tends to be sloooow, especially if you lack an SSD. Also RAM and CPU are limiting factors. For best performance I'd suggest at least 2C4T (i3, i5) CPUs, 6GB+ RAM and an SSD. You won't notice any performance loss.

Windows update bricks computer, windows keeps trying to go back to original non-ssd drive...

HyperSLI (Enabling SLI on non-sli motherboards)

To turn off windows updates in windows 7 follow these steps:

Click the start button, in the search box type in 'windows updates', click on 'windows update'
in the search results list, in the left side of the windows update window click 'change settings'
then in the option bar select 'Never check for updates'.
