    Windows Update Broke My Speakers

    Before update to 20H2 speakers were working perfectly fine. Afterupdate, not so much. Roll back update, speakers work. Update again, not working. Bluetooth earbuds, no problems.

    ThingsI have checked/tried.

    Mixer-Setwhere I want it. Volume is on.

    Settings-Speakersare the default output.

    Troubleshooter-Camedown to "let's re-install the audio driver", no change.

    Update Driver-No change.

    It looks like it comes down to to an issue with the driver for the speakers. Under Audio Inputs and Outputs, Speakers, I see this in Events:

    Device SWD\MMDEVAPI\{0.0.0.00000000}.{41a629b2-f532-49ec-99ee-6f5c238c5d08} was not migrated due to partial or ambiguous match.

    Last Device Instance Id: SWD\MMDEVAPI\{0.0.0.00000000}.{8ca69706-4eaf-4dad-9e39-912ff8849406}

    Class Guid: {c166523c-fe0c-4a94-a586-f1a80cfbbf3e}

    Location Path:

    Migration Rank: 0xF00000000000F120

    Present: false

    Status: 0xC0000719

    Also, I'm fairly certain Audio Endpoint was not what was being used pre update, if that matters. Any ideas on how to fix this? It's incredibly frustrating.

    :)

    Make sure under Settings>Sound that entry there matches. There's a drop-down arrow of choices. Also, on same page is an option to run the Troubleshooter to see if it finds anything amiss.

    Windows 10 recognizes my UE Megaboom as a headset and not a speaker will not work?

    Hi Rachael,

    Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

    I suggest you try the steps listed below and check if it works. This issue could be because of the Headphones BT SPEAKER Stereo being set as default. I suggest you to try the steps listed below and check if it works.

    • Pair the speaker with your PC.
    • Right click the Windows icon on the taskbar and choose
      Device Manager.

    • Expand Sound, video, and game controllers
      and right click on your Bluetooth speaker (BT SPEAKER Stereo).
    • Choose Disable and acknowledge the confirmation popup. Wait for the screen to refresh.
    • Right click on the same device again and Enable.
    • Exit Device Manager and see if the issue persist.

    Regards,
