  1. Windows update continually installs older intel graphics drivers

I'm using the Intel Arc Graphic Display driver from the Intel website. The recent version is 31.0.101.5990. Windows Update constantly installs an outdated version of the driver from July 2023 with the version number 31.0.101.4575 and uninstalls the recent driver.Windows Update should detect that there is a more recent driver already installed and should stop to install this update. How can I prevent Windows Update to install the outdated graphics driver?

    :)

  2. Windows update continually installs older intel graphics drivers

I am running the latest Windows 11 and find Windows Update always wants to install Intel Corporation - Display driver 26.x. While Intel Driver and Support Assistant (DSA) wants to always install Intel Iris Plus Graphics driver 31.0.101.2121. Windows Update wins because it is automatic unlike in Intel DSA. I have tried all the various setting changes within Windows Update, adjusted Device Installation Settings, and even done a couple of the recommended registry edits that I found on the internet to no avail. Why does Windows Update not check that it's not installing an older version of the driver? Why can't I inhibit driver updates?

Good day! I'm Dhanam a Windows user like you and I'll be happy to assist you today. I know this has been difficult for you, Rest assured, I'm going to do my best to help you.

To solve this, you need to install the Intel graphics driver using the "zip" installer from Intel.

The exe installer tends to remove the old drivers in the system, which is why Windows is downloading the old driver via Windows update again for some reason.

Installing the graphics driver using the zip installer will not remove the older drivers and will prevent Windows update from downloading the old driver again. You do not need to do anything in the registry or download any software. Just install the driver using the zip installer from intel

I hope this helps. If this is not exactly what you need, please explain more so that I can help you better.

    Regards

Windows 10 Updates installed older Intel Graphics Drivers

I just updated my Intel HD Graphics Drivers using the Intel Driver Update Utility. After successfully installing and rebooting my system, I noticed that Windows Update decided to reinstall the graphics drivers. I checked to find that the new drivers were
an older version. I had installed the 15.33.38.64.4252 drivers, and they were overwritten by the 10.18.15.4279 drivers.

My question is: why is this happening? How can I prevent Windows Update from overwriting drivers?

    Thanks.

EDIT: Further investigating indicates that it wasn't Windows Update that was installing the older graphics drivers, it was the Intel Driver Update Utility that keeps getting old drivers. WU was trying to overwrite the old drivers that IDUU installed, and
that resulted in conflicts and blue screens. I uninstalled the drivers, let WU do its thing, and all is working fine.

My guess is that the 10.18.15.4279 drivers are the latest stable version, according to Microsoft. The manual download for these drivers are here (https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25308/Intel-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-10-15-40-4th-Gen-). However,
the latest drivers are here (https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25489/Intel-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-10-15-40-4th-Gen-),
but I guess these have yet to be signed off by Microsoft.

Can someone please confirm this? Should I download the latest drivers, or just leave it to WU?

    Thank you.
