Windows 10: Windows Update deleted files and reset desktop

I have been fighting this issue for a week now. I have tried all of the things suggested in the forum and still have nothing. I have learned a few additional details during this process.


I ran a couple of different recovery programs and apparently the remnants of my files are too corrupt to recover. While investigating I came across some strange directories that were created at some point during the update. In the Windows directory



Windows>

Servicing>

LCU>

Package_for_RollupFix~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~ then the build number>



Below that there are literally hundreds of subdirectories and each of them has a couple more sub directories. I have no clue what these are but they were created at some point during the upgrade.


Besides that I am unable to perform normal functions such as opening files such as a .jpeg


I have run the DISM function from the command line as well as SFC commands which both said the completed successfully. I tried to use the Feedback Hub from the start menu but it will not function.


I am at a loss now. My windows upgrade log files contain hundreds of errors that might tell someone with more knowledge what went wrong. I have seen plenty of people complaining of similar problems in the last couple of weeks but no solutions as to how this might be repaired.

How does one go about contacting Microsoft support to have them review the issue.

Beyond that am I basically SOOL and just need to do a new Windows 10 Install? I'm not even sure that is a good idea if I can't determine what created the mess in the first place.

windows 10 deleted my desktop files

Step 1 - I upgraded to Win 10 and lost all my files on Desktop.

Step 2 - Found the files in Network - USers- Desktop

copied all files again to desktop.

Step 3- Restarted my machine again and lost desktop files again.

Step 4 - As suggested did the following as listed below but dont find my files.

• Press “Windows + E”, open This PC/Computer
• Open Local Disc C, open Windows.old
• Click on Users, select your User name
• Go to desktop folder

Cant find my files. Why is Win 10 deleted files again and again from Desktop ?.

 

Cant Delete Files From Desktop

Well, ran into a weird bug with vista, for some reason i cant delete files from desktop, this normaly happens to .exe files, the ONLY fix seems to be to KILL explorer.exe, and delete the file, then restat explorer, anybody got any idea why this happens?

 

C windows installer folder - Delete?

He can do symbolic link redirection and move the files in it to a different location. *Wink
Better try it out in a virtual of first. Just a suggestion.

Like:
First move everything in c:\windows\installer to d:\installercache
Then delete c:\windows\installer folder
Then type this in command mode as admin
mklink /d c:\windows\installer d:\installercache

Removing those installer files is a bad idea. it might prevent you from updating or uninstalling apps.
