Yesterday, 9/26/2024 a Windows update apparently overwrote my laptop's USB drivers with Windows defaults that don't work on my hardware, causing the trackpad and any/all external USB mice to not work. I followed the process below although the actual option presented was "Uninstall Quality Update" or "Uninstall Feature Update" and I chose the "Quality" one and after reboot, everything worked again as expected the rest of the day. Unfortunately, the laptop apparently re-updated itself overnight, and I am now faced with the "Groundhog Day" situation this morning: mouse doesn't work again. Pleas

Oh. Your "Registry" must have gotten screwed up FLY3R. If for some reason you couldn't download your updates I suppose you could go to the update site, and run throught the steps 'till it fails activation. Then you could go up to "Tools > Manage Add ons > then disable "Windows Genuine Advatage Validation Tool." Of course you should only use this method if you are having problems updating your legitamate copy of Windows XP. Perhaps do to a corrupted piece of software? *Smile

Windows 10 fully updated. Mouse freezes now and then.

This why I disabled the Windows 10 update I had problems with the Intel I219-V ethernet on my Asus Z170i Pro Gaming board after the 3-5 updates after the Anniversary Update all my internet speed was almost gone but before it worked fine, now I am running Creators Update and I upgraded directly from Windows 10 Anniversary no problems at all but I still got the Windows Update disabled together with Microsoft's annoying Telemetry because I don't want Microsoft to get all my information...
