Windows 10: Windows Update error 0x80004005 for KB3087040!!!

I had this problem on my laptop but not on my desktop. The manual download worked.

The same situation here too.

 

To think a simple flash player update also got Microsoft screw-up, unacceptable!

I just checked and it finally completed the update. IE 11 and Edge have the new Flash.

Just took a little patience, all worked out after all. MS fixed it.

 

It seems that every since I installed this busted update manually that my Opera browser has been crashing, I know it doesn't make any sense but the Opera problems started exactly after I installed the update.

 

You should probably roll back with a restore point or a system image backup created before you installed the update. Then try to reinstall the update automatically via Windows updates, since it seems that the bug has been fixed by Microsoft.

I have two PCs : one only runs Windows 10 and the other is running on a dual boot Win 10 and Win 7 64-bit. After manually applying the update on the first PC, I went to automatically update the second PC and it worked. I don't use Opera Browser, but you should also checked if you are running on the latest version. I hope this helps.

 

It would not install for me at first either during auto updating after 5 attempts I noticed. I have found that at least for me, since installing Windows 10 and with all the updates that will not install and have errors, if I tried to reinstall them myself in Windows Update anywhere from about 3 to 8 times they always would install correctly eventually. *really
