    I have a problem with Windows Update. The update Microsoft .NET Framework 4.8.1 for Windows 10 Version 22H2 for x64 KB5011048 failed with error code 0x80073712. The update Cumulative Update for .NET Framework 3.5, 4.8 and 4.8.1 for Windows 10 Version 22H2 for x64 KB5038285 is stuck at installing 45%

    KB5022728 Cumulative Update .NET Framework 3.5, 4.8, and 4.8.1 (21H2) Win Update

    Woops, MS is too late to address the .NET Framework 4.8.1 February 2023 security update can't be installed in several machines installed with Windows 10 21/22H2. Symptom:
    • The .NET Framework 4.8.1 February cumulative update, KB5022498 will not install. This is an issue only occurs after installing the .NET Framework 4.8 February cumulative update, KB5022502, then upgrading to .NET Framework 4.8.1 then scanning for updates.
    Workaround: Applying the following steps will allow KB5022498to be installed:
    • Uninstall 4.8 February update (KB5022502 )
    • Run command from elevated Command Promp: dism/online /cleanup-image /StartComponentCleanup
    • Scan for windows update again, 4.8.1 February update (KB5022498) installs as expected.
    Resolution:
    • On March 29, 2023, KB5022498 was re-released to correct this issue.
