Windows 10: Windows Update Error 0x80080005 and 'wuauserv' not starting

Hi. I am not able to update my windows because of non-functional windows update service. Every time I run 'Check for updates', I get error 0x80080005. I tried suggested methods of stopping 'wuauserv', 'bits', 'cyrptsvc', 'msiserver' and starting them again but the 'wuauserv' won't start at all. Always throws in this error:


The wuauserv service could not be started.
A system error has occurred.
System error 2 has occurred.
The system cannot find the file specified.


I tried windows update troubleshooter and 'sfc /scannow' too, but didn't work. I am running Windows 10 Version 1909, OS build - 18363.657. I don't have any third party antivirus installed, just the Windows Defender. I ran cmd in 'Run as Admin' mode for all the above stated processes.

wuauserv ( windows update service) could not be started. Error in starting wuauserv service

I was trying to resolve windows update error 0x80080005 and found a solution which says to stop first the wuauserv service but when i tried to do so in cmd I got :

system32>net start wuauserv

the wuauserv service could not be started

A system error has occured

System error 2 has occured

System cannot find the file specified

How to start it?

because the solution I want to try to resolve 0x80080005 demands to stop it first.

Hi so i am having this problem were i try to update windows but i get a code with (0x80080005). I searched to fix it and a lot of people have been going to command prompt and typing the same commands. When the command "net start wuauserv" comes next it
says "The wuauserv service could not be started" , "A system error has occured." , " System erroe 2 has occured." , "The system cannot find the file specified". Anyone know how i can get the file and fix the error code?

Sorry? Have you got the correct Tweaking .com's repair tool? Or followed the steps to the end where you actually do the numbered repairs?
